Claren is passionate about directing and creating new work, particularly experiential, design-heavy and collaborative productions. As a director she focuses on leading enjoyable and fulfilling rehearsal processes for all artists as well as putting together finely tuned productions with striking images. As a producer and Artistic Director of Pencil Kit Productions, she takes a holistic approach to theatre making, from marketing materials to audience experience to the spectacle on stage. She is the recipient of the 2018 Ken MacDougall Emerging Director Award and the 2015 My Entertainment World Award for Outstanding Direction (Small Theatre). She was also nominated for the 2023 Dora Mavor Moore Awards for Projection Design for I love the smell of gasoline.
